Each mom, nonetheless, is a very special mom who has a unique personality style -- for a very special child who has a unique personality style -- and for a very special reason! Make no mistake, your child has been given a gift -- and that special gift is you! You may, however, not feel so special. In fact, as a mom you may feel confused, worried, and frustrated, wondering, "What in the world do I do with this child that I don't understand and I can't get a ticket to escape to another planet anytime soon?!?!!" Recipe of the Month

Fruit Pizza A fun spring dessert! (Request it for Mother's day!) 1 ( 18 oz.) pkg. refrigerated cookie dough 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1/4 cup white sugar 5-6 Mandarin oranges 1 tsp. vanilla 1. Press cookie dough on bottom of lightly greased 12-inch pizza pan. Bake at 350 degrees F., 11 to 15 minutes or until light brown. Cool to room temperature. 2. Beat cream cheese and sugar in medium bowl until smooth and blended. Stir in Mandarin oranges. Spread over crust. Cover; refrigerate until ready to serve. 3. Arrange fruit over cream cheese just before serving. Top with your favorite fruit - Strawberries Kiwi Raspberries Mandarin oranges Bananas Pineapple Grapes I used store-bought sugar cookies for individual servings to take to a spring brunch recently. Fast, easy, delicious -- and pretty! Try the same topping on a (pre-cooked) brownie mix! Oh, my -- a little slice of heaven! (Recipe from www.allrecipes.com)

Did you hear about the mom who was trying to teach good table manners to her daughter? She told her, "A well mannered girl never crumbles her bread or rolls in her soup." A mom walked into the pet shop and said, "I'd like to get a frog for my son." "Sorry", said the pet owner. "We don't do exchanges." Why was the Egyptian girl worried? Because her Daddy was a Mummy.

Mother's Day History (or "Her"story)

In 1907 Ana Jarvis, from Philadelphia, began a campaign to establish a national Mother's Day. Ms. Jarvis persuaded her mother's church in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate Mother's Day on the second anniversary of her mother's death, the 2nd Sunday of May. By the next year Mother's Day was also celebrated in Philadelphia. Ms. Jarvis and her supporters began to write to ministers, businessmen, and politicians in their quest to establish a national Mother's Day. It was successful and by 1911 Mother's Day was celebrated in almost every state. President Woodrow Wilson made the official announcement in 1914 proclaiming Mother's Day as a national holiday that was to be held each year on the 2nd Sunday of May. And it's been breakfast in bed ever since! (Ri-i-i-i-ight.) ENJOY THIS SPECIAL DAY!

Question: Why is it such a battle to get my son to do his homework? He's always on the go with friends and procrastinates doing what he's suppose to do. I was never like that as a child and always did my homework right away. I feel things should get completed right away. He's so frustrating! Why is he like this? Answer: What you may be experiencing is your son's high "I" personality style - outgoing, seeking fun and preferring friends instead of completing the necessary tasks at hand. Your role as a parent is to help set guidelines and perimeters for your child. That doesn't mean to expect him to act and think like you do. Homework will never be a priority like it was for your personality style (High "C?"). But, your personality strength can be an asset in helping your son succeed in his weaker areas. Establish behavior related consequences and rewards. (After all, high "Is" love attention and rewards!) Set mini-deadlines to ward off procrastination (and a panic attack the night before an assignment's due)! Your natural ability to pre-plan can help propel him to homework success!
