IS YOUR TEAM A
SUPER BOWL TEAM?
What an outstanding Super Bowl game this year! Two
first-rate teams led by two first-rate coaches,
revealing the paramount team of the year -- the
unstoppable -- the best of the best! The Colts and
the Bears provided the hard work, action, and
entertainment. All we had to do was add family,
friends, and munchies for a great time!
So what’s your team like? If your family was a
football team, would you have been a contender for
the Super Bowl this year? Did your team play with
the Super Bowl in mind, unparalleled on a Super Bowl
level with Super Bowl tenacity? In other words, is
your team a winner?
Or... is your team, sort of – mediocre? Or perhaps
your team isn’t even showing up for the games at
all!
What kind of team makes it to the Super Bowl anyway?
The mediocre team? Of course not. In fact, we all
know it’s the teams who excel, who go above and
beyond what it takes to play the game, let
alone win the game. These teams aren’t
sitting on the sidelines waiting and watching,
moaning and groaning, believing they’ll never get
anywhere because it’s a dead-end season.
At Arrowhead Stadium, I've worked on the KC Chiefs
sidelines observing numerous teams over the years.
The Super Bowl teams push it to the limit, practice,
play, and think like winners. They give it their
all, believe they’re going to win, and do everything
in their power to achieve the goal.
Do you? Do you give your family your all? Do you
BELIEVE your family is a Super Bowl team?
It’s so easy to focus on the negative, the missed
field goals or botched touchdowns. It’s so easy to
consider the stats (50% divorce rate), consider it a
losing season, stop trying, and give up hope –
believing, “it’s just too late.” But let me tell
you, it’s NEVER TOO LATE!
We’ve got to get in training, go the extra mile, run
the extra laps, lift heavier weights, and “stretch”
our thinking. Super Bowl teams don’t just happen,
they’re intentional and purposeful. They strategize,
practice, sweat, work hard and bust their buns to
make it happen. Are you doing everything you can to
make it happen, to make your team a winning team?
Or... are you sitting on the sidelines – waiting and
watching?
Let’s get down out of the grand stands and get in
the game. Let’s work hard, play hard, and pray hard
for our families. If you’re NOT planning on adding
to the statistics of divorce this year and you ARE
planning on “playing the game,” then why not shoot
for a winning season?
If – if – if you’re planning on keeping your team
together, then why not give it your all? Why have a
mediocre team when you can have an outstanding team?
Consider this:
Pray Together – go on, get in the huddle and
pray. You can do it. It’s hard to stay mad,
negative, or resentful when you’ve grabbed hands and
prayed together over the issue.
Play Together – okay, maybe not football, but
make an attempt to find fun things to do together.
Support each other in your activities. Maybe “she”
doesn’t want to play golf or “he” doesn’t want to do
scrap booking, but it’s essential to try new things
and figure out what's fun! Make a new “game” plan!
Stay Together – statistics may be against us,
but dedication and determination can beat all odds –
even for the underdog team! Go undefeated!
What a perfect time (Valentine’s Day) to make a new
game plan – a new commitment. Make a decision today
– decide that you’re going to be an outstanding
coach, cheerleader, and team player and go for a
Super Bowl team! We can win - and win big - in this
game called life!

D-I-S-COVER COMMUNICATION WITH ALL YOUR LOVED ONES!
Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to communicate
love. Communication is essential for a successful
future with our loved ones, but did you know that
communication deficiency is cited as the number one
complaint in relationships, leading to damage that can
last a lifetime?
Understanding the different personality styles can
help you recognize why you think and do what you do,
and why others do what they do – when it otherwise
just doesn’t make sense! To feel connected, we need to
communicate and express love in ways that are
meaningful.
THE DRIVEN “D” PERSONALITY STYLE SAYS:
“Be direct (bottom line it) and clear.”
“Tell me what you’d 'prefer' for me to do (make it
fast).”
“Offer me choices when possible. I like to feel in
control of my decisions.”
“Show me (don't boss me) possibilities that I can
accomplish.”
THE INTERACTIVE “I” PERSONALITY STYLE SAYS:
“Tell me who else is doing what you want me to do
because I love to be around people.”
“Let me talk (and talk) about what I am feeling.”
“Be fun, friendly, and excited when possible.”
“Offer me creative rewards for quick jobs.”
THE SUPPORTIVE “S” PERSONALITY STYLE SAYS:
“Tell me how I can help you, because I love to help.”
“Show me that you care about and appreciate me,
especially when I feel I need to avoid conflict.”
“Do things with me because I like being together (and
please be patient with me).”
“Offer me plenty of time to adjust to changes before
they happen.”
THE CALCULATING “C” PERSONALITY STYLE SAYS:
“Tell me exactly why we need to do something and your
expectations.”
“Show me how I fit in and explain distinct guidelines
and boundaries.”
“Be logical and careful with me.”
“I'd like to talk alone with you after I've had plenty
of time to think about the situation.”
Make it your heart's desire to understand your
Valentine's personality style and remember -- no
personality style is right or wrong -- just different!

HEART PANCAKES
- - Pancake batter (from scratch or box)
- - Red food coloring
- - Pastry bag (or baggy)
If you're looking for a
fun and festive, yet easy way to celebrate Valentine's
Day, try adding a little red food coloring to your
favorite pancake batter. Fill a pastry bag (or baggy)
with batter (slightly trim off one corner).
On a heated griddle, pipe the outline of a heart
(start with a "V") and fill in with batter. Garnish
with powdered sugar, syrup, or fruit, if desired. For
extra fun, serve with "pink" milk (as shown in photo)!
If you don't have time for a big breakfast, why not
serve breakfast for dinner one night this week?
Other creative ideas: shape a meatloaf into a heart -
or meatballs. (Serve with PINK mashed potatoes?) Make
a heart-shaped pizza or hamburgers (trim the buns with
a heart-shaped cookie cutter). For lunch, trim
sandwiches into a heart shape.
As you know, when it comes to desserts, it's limitless
what you can do! Make cream puffs (tint the pudding
and dough pink) or use a heart-shaped pan for:
- Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie
- Brownies
- Muffins
- Cupcakes
- Cakes
- Rice Krispie Treats
CELEBRATE this day with your loved ones! It only
takes a little extra effort to make lasting memories!

DO WE REAL-L-L-L-L-LY HAVE TO LOVE HIM/HER?
"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and
with all your strength. This is the first commandment.
And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your
neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment
greater than these.”
MARK 12:30-31. (NKJV)
Let's face it. That's not always easy. But... it's
what He tells us to do, what He requires of us. So go
ahead, give it a try. Remember, it's the lo-o-o-o-ve
month. Love your family, love your neighbors, love
your co-workers, love others -- like you've never
loved before -- unconditionally, as He does. You may
have to do some "heart" mending this month, but you'll
be glad you did.
God has always been and will always be there for us --
in spite of us, during our broken hearts and during our
happy days full of roses and chocolates. If you seek
Him, you will find Him -- when you seek Him with all
your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
Find out how to live an
abundant life today.
